What would a wedding reception in the Crystal Ballroom at King Edward Hotel be without the sounds of a salsa band? Even though it's been a few good months since I've documented this splendid special event, I can still hear the sounds of the band playing various rhythms. The whole ballroom was filled with people dancing regardless of their background. The beautiful bride was born in Cyprus and the groom in Bolivia. They have guests from all over the world including Spain, Sweden and even Australia. That is the beauty of the wedding day: it attracts friends and family from around the globe come and celebrate the union of two young people and the birth of a new family.
I captured this image using a fisheye lens that create a unique distortion giving a specific signature to the photos. While I know that there are photographers who love fisheye lenses and use them to photograph full weddings, I consider them a bit too exotics for my couples as such I use them sparingly, especially during the reception.
In general, I try to deliver a variety of looks and photographs to my clients. I shoot it at F1.2 to but also at F16. I take pictures during the day and I beg my clients to come out at sunset and at during the reception take beautiful night photos. I should tight and I shoot wide. Patient from low angles issue from high angle the shoot from far away and I shoot very close macro photos. I take candid images and more directed and cinematic if you want. I want my clients to receive the whole palette of imagery one can deliver.
