Groom Dips the Bride at King Eddie Hotel Wedding

On the wedding day, my mantra is get high, get low, get close, get far, get dirty and I have to think Christman studios for that. This marriage at King Edward hotel was no different and it involved a lot of hard work from us. As a King Edward hotel wedding photographer, I know the best spots in the area so on the special day I am very efficient and deliver a variety of images to my couples. This environmental portrait of the bride and groom also captures the beauty of St. James Cathedral.
The image is outstanding from a composition standpoint. The bride and groom are placed on the left-hand side of the frame. The groom dips the bride and they are both framed by one of the arches of the monument in front of St. James Cathedral. Their visual weight is beautifully balanced by the splendid Cathedral which in this frame occupies the right-hand side of the image.

Post Processing

The pastel colours were created in post processing by using a Fuji 400 H preset. Last summer, one of my brides and grooms asked me to edit their wedding in an airy and dreamy fashion. Previously, my style was a bit darker, more contrasty, inspired by famous photographers such as Yervant and Jerry Ghionis. While that photography style is very popular in Australia, in North America we love the dreamy look. As such, I embraced the opportunity and purchased a few presets I now currently use to process my weddings. The beauty of this Adobe Lightroom preset is that it renders perfect skin tones that brides absolutely love. The filmic look is also very popular with the high and wedding blogs and magazines.
