Grandmother and Granddaughter Dance at King Edward Hotel Wedding

My preferred wedding photography style is photojournalism though unfortunately we, wedding photographers, are often required to direct or subjects who often don't feel natural in front of the camera. I agree that it is the professional photographer job to train his clients so that they feel relaxed and give us the best emotions.

This is a perfect moment to give my couples a great tip on how to plan their big day. It is very important to know that the first 30 minutes of the photo shoot are warm-up time for the subject. For this King Edward Hotel wedding I arrived early to make sure I had enough time for photograph. What many photographers don't think that the consideration is that there are plenty of guests roaming around the hotel and interfering with the photo shoot. Also, the beautiful wedding venue has a couple of bars and the bridal party often disappears for a few minutes to hydrate.

In this photograph, a clear sample of the documentary wedding photography style, we see the grandmother and the granddaughter dancing together. This touching moment was not prompt it in any shape or form but occurred naturally while I was photographing the bride. I asked my second shooter take over the bridal portraits and they ran towards the hallway where this beautiful moments unfolding. I was able to capture a few frames that show the love between the mother of the bride and her granddaughter. It's probably one of the most touching photographs I capture on the big day besides those of the bride and groom.
