Environmental Portrait of the Newlyweds at King Edward Hotel Wedding

As a King Edward Hotel wedding photographer, I'm familiar with many picturesque locations in downtown Toronto. That allows me on the wedding day to be very efficient and to get the photo should done quickly so that the couple can enjoy their cocktail hour and then the reception.
As a rule, a finish any family portraits first, then I move on and then photograph the bridal party leaving the newlyweds towards the end. The benefit of this approach is multifold. First the bride and groom are very familiar with my style by that time in the have an opportunity to warm up for their photo shoot. Second, on the special day, the family portraits are extremely important, especially when the couple has guests travelling from abroad.

In the past, a few of my couples decided to skip the formal photos and their families were extremely upset. It went to such extent that they reunited and took the family photographs about six months after the wedding.

Romantic Moment by King Eddie

In this image, we see the bride and groom sitting on a fountain close to the beautiful hotel in downtown Toronto.

The story behind this picture is as follows: after about 20 minutes of shooting, the bride and groom were losing interest in the photo shoot and I wanted them to have the perfect wedding experience. Even though I was privileged to do the engagement photos, they were pictured out as we call it. I urged the couple to take a seat and relax for a few minutes while we photographers were changing the lenses. That is a tip I learned from one of the best wedding photographers in the GTA and it works every time.

The couple started chatting and we, the photographers were pretending we were not paying attention but were ready to capture any beautiful moments. Not suspecting anything, the bride and groom started kissing each other. It was in that split second that I capture this candid picture which occupies a full spread in the wedding album.
