The candid photo on the left shows the bride and groom walking towards The Vault, during a One King West wedding. The couple looks happy and the groom is holding the bouquet. This is a candid photograph of the couple's love is apparent on their special day.
To give this image dynamism, I employed the Dutch tilt technique, namely rotating the camera about 15° to the right. That places the groom along the reciprocal diagonal and makes the picture flow better. I shot this image in landscape format and the railings become leading lines directing the viewer's attention towards the couple.
Both photos on this album spread were captured before the wedding ceremony.
The second photograph is a full body portrait of the bride and groom taken on the staircase leading to The Vault. I shot this photograph in portrait mode to complement the first image on the spread.
This picture is posed. While most of my couples photojournalist the coverage, in this case, the bride and groom love photography and didn't mind posing.
To light the subjects in these two images I used a combination of flash, continuous lighting ballast with the ambient light created by the beautiful One King West chandeliers.
Images were captured with a 5D Mark III camera equipped with the 35mm 1.4 lens shot wide open.
In post processing I warmed up the pictures by raising the light colour, then dodged and the images to enhance the presence of the subject, soften the skin, sharpened the architectural elements and jewelry and performed other basic skin retouching.
