After photographing the bridal party, I decided to focus on the bride. As such, I asked the groom to step out of frame and let me shoot her alone.
The bride and groom photo shoot took place at the Old Mill Toronto, with rustic wood beams and plenty of natural light streaming in. To create some contrast, I placed the bride against a floral backdrop, and lit her from behind to give the image a classic style.
I created a set of 4 images featuring the bride in a series of poses. The goal was to showcase her beautiful eyes, smile, and natural beauty.
I was lucky enough to be invited to shoot this wedding at the historic Old Mill Toronto, an amazing venue which is now being used as an event space.
To get this particular shot of the bride, I set up my camera on a tripod and waited for the bride to walk down the path. I adjusted the aperture, focused, and pressed the shutter button.
I was able to capture her in a few different poses with some interesting background elements. To achieve this, I positioned the bride next to a wall and took advantage of a few architectural features to create a moody look.
The final image is a classic portrait, but I had a lot of fun creating it and I’m pretty pleased with the outcome. The couple were extremely helpful in making sure I had everything I needed and it was a pleasure to photograph them.
Usually with bridal portraits, I photograph this at the shallow depth of field, with my Fuji 56 mm F 1.2 lens.
