After we finished taking pictures of the bride and groom we got some shots of the bridal party on the bridge that overlooks the mill. This was a wonderful place to take pictures. The bridge is not very high, and the view is incredible.
I’m not going to lie – there’s something pretty awesome about having your friends as subjects in your photos. Not only is it fun and silly to take a picture with them, but it also helps to create a personal connection between you and your friends. Plus, it makes everyone happy that you’re making a good memory for them.
Here are some tips for taking great photos of your bridal party:
Think about composition. When taking photos of people, keep in mind where the light is coming from and where your subject is standing. For example, if you’re taking photos of a couple standing in front of a window, then you may want to move the subject further away from the window so that there isn’t a direct reflection of your subject on the glass.
If you want to use props, use ones that are easy to identify. Our friend had a giant smiley face button, and we decided to get a few photos of the whole bridal party in front of it. Don’t go crazy, though. If you’re taking photos at a wedding reception, you probably don’t want to end up with a photo of the entire room.
Have fun with it. This is the most important part. Have a little fun with it. Even if the situation isn’t great, if you’re enjoying yourself and have a positive attitude, the photos will come out better.
