When the bride arrived at King Edward Hotel I sure that myself and my second shooter were positioned properly to capture this beautiful moment. In my long career as a Toronto wedding photographer I learned that these moments are unique, and the artist has to be patient and immortalize them.
The generally, I attempt to control the situation so that nobody jumps in my frame, knocks down the lights, etc. However on this special day, things happen in rapid succession and we didn't have a chance to direct the wedding party. As such, this photograph is slightly less balance that I wanted but the genuine reaction of the subjects is priceless.
On the left-hand side of the frame we see the bride's best friend laughing and the plotting her arrival. On the right hand side the bride is laughing graciously. Her classy wedding gown and her white gloves give her a very royal appearance.
As a professional wedding photographer, I always look for things they can improve in the frame; here the obvious elements that do not belong in this image are the two bottles of champagne. Also, I wish I could have moved 1 foot towards my right to capture a more balanced photograph. Unfortunately, on the wedding day the bridal room was filled with people and I didn't have the luxury to pick the best angle.
