As photographer, I'm honoured to document beautiful love stories such this wedding at King Edward Hotel. I am a big fan of documentary photography but often my clients want me to capture some images of objects that have a particular significance to them. Here, we can see the beautiful engagement ring resting on a pearl that adorns the brides shoes. I have never, in my whole career seen such beautiful shoes and I wanted the couple to remember them forever. Often, the flowers, the cake, the decor are gone after the big day and the only thing that remains is photography. That's why I pride myself in working extremely hard on the special day sucking capture every single angle and moments of the love story between the newlyweds couple. Too often, wedding photographers treat a marriage just like another event. I remember once I was attending a wedding is a guest in during the reception the photographers had dinner for about one hour. To say that I wasn't impressed would be a massive understatement. Even worse, after dinner the bride started dancing and completely oblivious to that, the two "professional photographers" packed their bags and left because their time was up.
In my travels I have met quite a few artists that wanted to second shoot for me and the determining factor in hiring them is not the quality of the imagery they deliver but rather the passion they have for the craft and for weddings. I don't care if you're among the top 10 wedding photographers in the world if you treat your couples disrespectfully, if you check your social media accounts during the wedding day and so on. After all, my brand is very important and when you work for me you represent my brand.
When I deliver the photos I always ask for feedback about my second photographer from the couple and if the feedback is not positive I and the relationship with the artist. Toronto wedding photography is a competitive industry and I have no patience for mediocrity.
