This is one of the most beautiful weddings I photographed at King Edward Hotel and to do it justice I decided to take some risks and let the creative juices flow. Here is a tip for the wedding photographers who might want to try this: make sure you have a solid second shooter while you're attempting a new technique because if you miss, the couple will not be happy.
On the big day, I was shooting with one of my partners with whom I captured hundreds of ceremonies so I was confident he will not miss a shot. Before attempting to take this stunning image, I approached him and instructed him to shoot safe. In wedding photographers lingo that means do not take any risks and did not miss anything because I'm going to go all artsy. That special day, the gods of photography smiled on us and I was lucky enough to capture this beautiful photo.
In the centre we can see the couple watching the priest and around them, about 30 more copies of the bride and groom are doing the same. The image was taken using a prism to create a stunning visual effect.
To be able to pull this off, I did a lot of exercises at home so that on the wedding day I did exactly what lens and settings to use. I could easily share that with you but honestly I will you with this service if I did that. Please try photographing various types of prisms and you will be amazed by the creativity of the shots you will get.
