The bride walking down the aisle was by far the most emotional moments at this King Edward Hotel wedding. In my vast wedding photography career I have seen grooms break down in tears when they saw their bride for the first time. While I'm a big fan of the first look, the moment when the bride and groom's each other before the wedding ceremony, I cannot deny the beauty and intensity of this emotional moment that is the processional. Everybody: family, guests and friends stood up and I could hear the wow on everybody's lips when they saw the stunning bride enter the Crystal Ballroom.
The groom and his groomsmen were petrified with the motion. As usually, during the processional, I turned towards the groom to capture his emotion. He was shedding a tear, probably thinking about his life ahead of him. The bride and groom blocked their gazes and started smiling. It was a beautiful moment I was privileged enough to photograph.
I have to admit I love unplugged weddings where none of the guests is allowed to use their cell phones during the wedding ceremony. Unfortunately, this was not one of those events so everybody pulled their cell phones and started taking pictures of the bride and her father. That, unfortunately raised a problem as we had to shoot through 100 hands holding bright cell phones. One could say that the hands would become leading lines directing the viewer's attention towards the bride. My take on this is a slightly different as the multiple screens would be a distraction. As such, I decided to photograph this image in a portrait mode. To preserve the documentary wedding photography style, I converted this image into black and white.
