Bride Puts Wedding Band on Groom's Hand at King Edward Hotel Wedding

As I mentioned in a different article, I always attempt to deliver at least three images of the ring exchange. First, I take the safe shot, namely the wide angle image or environmental portrait of the bride and groom. Next, I captured a mid angle image of the scene and this is the result. Finally, if time permits, I always shoot a close-up of the hands exchanging rings.

Let me step back and just second and tell you how I manage to take such a large variety of imagery in a short time. During the consultations with the couple I instructed them to take the time during the ring exchange, first kiss and signing of the marriage certificate. In my opinion, we need at least three seconds to be able to deliver the three angles of view. Even though I'm big proponent of documentary wedding photography in which the artist does not interfere with the flow of the events on the wedding day, I train my subjects in such a way that I'm able to achieve my vision.

In this photograph we see the bride putting the wedding band on the groom's hand during their wedding ceremony in the beautiful Crystal Ballroom at King Edward Hotel. The bride and groom are looking at each other and smiling while the priest, in the centre of the frame, is reading from the holy book. The couple have an equal visual weight in the picture. The composition is simple, symmetrical and elegant. The only person that changes the balance of the image is the priest assistant, opposition towards the right of the frame in the second point of impact according to the rule of thirds. He is looking at the bride smiling.
