Once the wedding ceremony is over, the couple, the bridal party, the parents and the guests are more relaxed because they're just waiting for the reception to start.
On the big day, most of the time, the wedding photographers drive by themselves from the bride preparation spot, to the groom, to the ceremony and finally to the event space. That is unfortunately waste of time especially if these venues are far from each other. During our consultation with the couple, we always recommend that the save two seats on the limo for the professional photographers. The truth is, it is very difficult to photograph in such a tiny space and we often have to use wide angle lenses that cause quite a bit of distortion. We're talking about focal lengths of 8 to 16 millimetres up to maybe 24 mm on a full frame camera. Even though my preferred lens combo is the 35mm and 85 mm one, for us to be able to capture the beautiful moments inside the limo, moments that the brides love, we need to switch or lenses white ones.
This is a good opportunity to mention that carrying huge bags, light stands, strobe lights and so on is detrimental in wedding photography. First, setting up all that equipment takes time and one can miss a lot of moments in the process. Second, because of all the equipment, the professional photographer is slow to react, materializing in fewer images. Third, because all that year looks impressive and intimidating, the photos have a tendency to look very posed and is hard to capture candid images.
