There are a few things I love about Toronto Botanical Garden which makes it a perfect location for engagement photos. First, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful gardens in the city. Second, Edward Gardens boasts splendid landscapes and manicured lawns, which create perfect backdrops for wedding day and engagement portraits.
This album spread is an homage to the beautiful gardens and features the couple standing on a bridge. They are very small in the frame and are perfectly balanced by the small falls on their left.
As usually, there is more to the picture than the eye can see. There were a few tourists enjoying the view and they were ruining my frame. That is one of the downsides of this beautiful garden. It is always crowded with tourists or locals, but more about that in a different article. I asked a few bystanders if they could move out of the picture but some of them just ignored me. As such I to the picture and fixed in post production. When you look at it, this part of Eden looks deserted except for our engaged couple.
As usually, when critiquing my own work I look for special elements that make this picture unique. First the amazing landscape contributes to this striking photo. Second there are a few leading lines that emphasize the couple. The pathway coming from the left direct your I into the couple placed on the right of the frame. Also, the stairsand this image create a second leading line. Finally, the falls on the left and the gorgeous rocks give this image texture and symbolize movement.
