It is no secret that as a wedding photographer, I love first looks. The moment when the bride and groom see each other is magical. Often, the couple are so emotional that he burst into tears followed by laughter. All those beautiful moments are excellent ingredients for candid wedding photography.
Generally, it is a wedding photographers who direct the first look but in this case it was slightly different. We only observed and reacted to the events as opposed to leading them. Also it was the first time when I saw this type of first look.
Here's what happened: the bride and groom were hidden behind eight bunch of helium balloons that the best man and the maid of honour released at the particular time. While the ballrooms were rising in the air, the couple walked towards each other finalized with a kiss and a big hug.
To preserve the documentary nature of the wedding photo, I cropped it using a cinematic proportions (2.39:1). On the left-hand side of the frame we can see the groom advancing to his bride. On the right-hand side the bride is wiping a tear and on her right the maid of honour is laughing. In the background, we can see two cars, a Ferrari and a Lamborghini that reflects the high and the nature of this special day.
Shortly after the couple so each other for the first time on the wedding day, we headed to the Château Le Parc for an outdoor wedding ceremony.
