Selfies at Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe Wedding

Selfies are becoming mainstream today. This album spread features the newlyweds taking selfies at their Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe wedding is dedicated to bride and groom selfies.

The image on the left portrays the bride and groom sticking their tongues out under the veil and taking a selfie. While sticking the tongue out is a gesture frowned upon in the Western cultures, it is entirely accepted in the eastern part of the world. Even more in countries like Tibet people greet each other by showing their tongues. In North America though, this is a gesture that symbolises rebellion, originality and youth. After all, even Einstein did it!

The image on the right shows the couple taking a more solemn selfie.

As a Toronto wedding photographer, I learned that weddings are not only about award-winning photographs but also about capturing the true atmosphere of the day. Therefore I believe that this kind of shots should be included in the wedding album if they represent who the clients are.
