This wedding album spread includes two images taken during the first dance at a Barcelo Maya Palace wedding.
The image on the left depicts the bride and groom dancing for the first time as husband and wife. The purple backlight in this image is creating a romantic and royal atmosphere. The bride and groom had a very original idea and tied themselves with a purple glow stick during the first dance. This candid wedding photo includes two layers: in the foreground, we can see the bride and groom dancing. In the background we notice the guests standing and watching the newlyweds performing their first dance.
The image on the right is a close-up of the scene and portrays the bride and groom kissing during their first dance. The subjects are placed on the left-hand side according to the rule of thirds. To balance the photo, I added a few Christmas lights on the right.
Technical aspects: the image on the left was shot with the 35mm prime lens while the image on the right was captured with an 85 mm. Both shots were taken at the very shallow depth of field. What makes these pictures unique's is the interesting purple light that comes from behind the couple. Second, through the technique of layering, I was able to capture multiple stories in the same frame. That makes these photos stand out. Also critical, adding the Christmas lights is an element of interest increases the images appeal and makes them unique.
