Toronto Botanical Garden Wedding - Bridal Portrait

This album spread includes one of the most artistic images I took at this Toronto Botanical Garden wedding. On the left, there is a beautiful flower arrangement while on the right we see the bride getting ready for her wedding ceremony.

The bride and groom wanted to get married here because the garden is one of the most beautiful outdoor wedding venues in Toronto. As such I incorporated floral elements in many pictures.

What makes this Toronto Botanical Garden wedding picture special?

Without false modesty I can affirm this is a unique bridal portrait. Usually, Toronto wedding photographers have a tendency to use tried-and-true poses. Not here! This image was created using a photography technique called double exposure. How can this be achieved? First, why should take a picture of the subject, in this case, the bride. Next, using the live view, the photographer should take the second picture placing the flower (the subject of the second photo) so that it doesn't cover the bride. The same results can be achieved in post processing, but it takes longer. According to the purists, creating a double exposure in Photoshop is not acceptable. If you asked me, what matters the most is that the bride and groom love their photo. Period!

This wedding photo was created using a Canon 85 mm 1.2 mounted on my 5D Mark III camera. Both photos were lit using a flash.

Location: 777 Lawrence Ave E, North York, ON M3C 1P2.
