As a Toronto wedding photographer I am used to couples preparing surprises for their guests. However, the Lion Dance at this Toronto Botanical Garden wedding, exceeded everybody's expectations.
This is a candid image of the bride and groom taken during the Lion Dance. The to Chinese lions are looking at the bride and groom are holding big wand to tame the lions. This great photojournalistic image exhibits a few photography techniques. First, the image has multiple layers and tells several stories. In the foreground the two Chinese lions are looking at the bride and groom. In the middle ground, the bride and groom are fighting the fierce lions. Finally, in the background the guests are enjoying the show and taking pictures.
to create this image I used a Canon 35mm lens on a 5D Mark three camera. In this wedding picture, the bride and groom are positioned according to the rule of thirds. Also, in the shot, everybody looking at the bride and groom. According to the continuance Gestalt principle that also directs the viewer's attention to the newlyweds.
In post production I applied techniques such as dodging and burning, skin softening, texture and vibrancy enhancement to create this cinematic photo. Because of the cinematic crop and the beautiful composition of lighting, many clients mentioned that this wedding picture looks like a frame from a James Bond movie.
