As a Toronto wedding photographer I operate in a very competitive marketplace and I always need to deliver outstanding imagery. A professional wedding photographer achieves great images through a variety of means: selective focus, lighting, posing, eliciting emotions and perspective.
Interesting angles are a very important ingredient in creating beautiful images and whenever I have a chance I try to use cinematic angles: lower angles, higher angles, a Dutch tilt, etc.
To create this image I dropped on the ground and photographed the couple against the sky. The juxtaposition of the couple and the sky creates a very interesting image. To inject a bit of emotion in the picture I asked a couple to exchange their wedding rings, which is always a fun thing to do, especially after the ceremony.
It was such a fun moment, and I was able to get the right expression in the photograph.
The bride's smile is so genuine and the groom's eyes are full of love and joy. I used a shallow depth of field to blur the background and emphasize the bride's look. She's the focus of the photograph. I used a slight separation of the groom from the background to add a sense of separation and give the image dimension.
It really was a blast shooting this event, and we hope the couple enjoys the photos for years to come.
