During the groom's preparation for his wedding at the Kortright Centre I had the opportunity to capture some candid moments. For this particular photograph, I asked the groomsmen to drink a glass of grappa. I dropped on the floor and shot against the sky and captured this beautiful moment. To preserve the candid nature the photograph, I chose a black and white processing.
I then added some grain in Photoshop and adjusted the colours.
For those of you wondering what is grappa, it is an Italian grape based liquor produced in Friuli Venezia Giulia region of Italy. Also known as amaro, it is similar to brandy and can be used for cooking, making sauces and marinades or to flavor desserts. It is a digestif, meant to be consumed before dinner. I find it to be an interesting choice to use as a wedding gift to the bride and groom.
To create this beautiful image I used 16 to 55 mm lens mounted on a Fujifilm xt3 camera. I also love the fact that the camera is very portable and can easily fit in a pocket. The Fujifilm XT3 is also great for portraits because of its ability to create a shallow depth of field. This allows the subject to be sharp but blurred at the background and creates soft and romantic effects.
