This is one of the images that should be in every award-winning photographer portfolio. The best part about it is that it feels very natural while the composition, lighting, and emotions are out of this world.
After the wedding ceremony at Kortright Centre, the newlyweds and the bridal party headed to the photo shoot location. Here's where they started goofing around and I was able to capture some gorgeous moments.
In this particular image the groom is wearing the hat that the bride gifted him on the wedding day. He's hand is touching the fedora and that forms a frame. I use that to frame the bride who is in the background, giggling.
It was such a fun moment, and I was able to get the right expression in the photograph.
The bride's smile is so genuine and the groom's eyes are full of love and joy. I used a shallow depth of field to blur the background and emphasize the bride's look. She's the focus of the photograph. I used a slight separation of the groom from the background to add a sense of separation and give the image dimension.
The groom is looking away from her, so it gives him an air of mystery.
It's always best to photograph people when they're having fun. When they are in a good mood, they are more likely to relax and smile, which will produce great images.
When you are shooting portraits, you should also take into account what makes your subject smile, laugh, or simply look at the camera. Don't forget that people want to be photographed when they feel comfortable and happy.
It really was a blast shooting this event, and we hope the couple enjoys the photos for years to come.
