One of the most emotional moments of this wedding day at the Kortright Centre was when the bride descended from her bedroom to meet her family. I like capturing that moment as I can immortalize a variety of emotions ranging from blasters to tears and everything in between.
Here, I was positioned behind the bride and I captured this moment over her shoulder so I can create a foreground background image. We can see the hint of a bride in the foreground call my slightly out of focus. Her family and friends are at the bottom of the staircase and you can see the reflection of the bride in the stairs. This is the most difficult to capture as I had no control over the direction and angle of light. I had to be very careful not to over expose and have a white flash in the image. I tried to keep it natural looking. I wanted it to look real.
The colour was also adjusted with a bit of saturation and motion blur to give the image a sense of movement. Finally, I added a slight vignette to the image to soften the edges.
The most important part of this shot is how the bride and family react to seeing her. They are clearly delighted to see her. We can feel the excitement and happiness from the family as they see the bride walking down the stairs.
