Girls Catch the Bouquet at Chateau Le Parc Wedding

I love this action shot at Château Le Parc! The bouquet and garter toss are two of the funniest moments of the wedding day and for the professional photographer a great chance to capture genuine emotions.

More Tips for a Great Bouquet Toss Photograph

I have to admit that I liked preparing thoroughly before the bouquet toss. Lighting plays an important role but also the lens choice is crucial. For the bouquet and garter toss I love using wide-angle lenses that can capture the whole action. Also because the bouquet is generally flying pretty fast, the wide angle lens give you the opportunity to catch the bouquet, the bride and the single girls in focus.

Generally, I took a picture of the bride before she still was the bouquet. Invariably the beautiful bride looks at the camera. I cannot shot while the bouquet is in the air and finally a last one when the lady catches it. For all of those I use a 35mm lens or wider. Afterwards I either run to the girl who caught the bouquet because I know she will be ecstatic and I think that is a beautiful candid photograph.

It is important that both the main wedding photographer and the second shooter take this shot from different angles so that in case the flash doesn't trigger, the second photographer can still get the photo.
