This album spread includes photos from a wedding ceremony I photographed at Atlantis Pavilions.
The image on the left shows the bride and groom performing the sand ceremony. There are two small vases containing pink and blue sand, one for the bride and the other one for the groom. The couple pours the sand in a larger vase at the same time so the colours blend. The sand ceremony symbolises the reunion of the two families. As nobody can separate the two colours, the same will happen with the couple getting married and nothing can separate them. Blending of sand is a custom in destination weddings and places where it is very windy and it is difficult to hold a unity candle lit. The coloured sand gives the wedding photos an accent and make them more vibrant.
The photograph on the right shows the best man presenting the rings to the groom to perform the ring exchange.
